Lots of stuff is overlooked as harmless to the environment and its many creatures, rather than significant artifacts of environmental history. But just as tree rings can tell us stories about human care for their surroundings, so too can the mall and what we hang, and howe we hang it, on the wall.ARTIFACTS: If there is such a thing as an archival protest, I would want this to be part of it. Given the colonial tradition of natural history museums, I guess I’m not surprised they are selling a product that shows how lazy white people can be. “Here! You can have a prized, dead elephant head on your wall without even having to do the work of killing it!” It’s like buying jeans that have been pre-ripped and worn.




I thought rewilding was something middle-aged women were encouraged to do on retreats where they howl at the moon together. Someone else says its about “rewilding the city” so that it is more welcoming of animals and plants that have been shooed out. (expand)
