Faux taxidermy is a deer bust with antlers embroidered with brown thread on a tan canvas throw pillow. It is the ultimate absent referent (Adams, 40). Deafblind poet John Lee Clark prefers a trip to the dollar store over the “sensory day” that many popular museums host for disabled visitors. He recalls picking up a rubber duck at Value Village and discovering it had no legs. “The body part that keep ducks alive in the water is missing! Why would a store be selling a duck with its legs cut off?” he cried (Cite?).
